About me

I’ve been a genealogist since I left high school.  I got into it when my adoptive parents died, leaving me a photo of my birth mother and a posthumous apology for not having told me about her sooner. I found out that she had an English accent, but that’s all I know about her. I know nothing at all about my father, but someday I hope I will.  I spent the first couple years of my life in the care of the Catholic mission  where where I was abandoned.

I hate flying.  You should know that because I’ll only take to the air for an assignment when I have to - like when something really gets to me as it did with the Fairborne family. If I hadn’t followed their trail to Cornwall, England, I never would have solved that riddle. Whenever possible, though, I travel around in my Torch Red, ‘55 Ford Thunderbird. I’ve had it since I started pulling paychecks and consider it my only family - discounting my briefcase, which goes everywhere with me.

Likes

Music:  I’m really into show tunes and love anything Broadway or West End. I have all the soundtracks and I’ve see all the shows at least once.

Reading:  It has to be headstones and old records for me. My degree in palaeology helps out there.

Movies: I never seem to find the time, but on the rare occasion I do, I’ll go for an old movie over new.

Hobbies:  Not really.  I’m too busy with my work, and when I’m not on assignment I have my own family history to trace. I’m a huge Washington Redskins fan, though, and I see a game every so often - though not as often as I’d like. I plan to start jogging. I guess you could call that a hobby.  There’s a park near where I live - not that I’ve ever owned a pair of sneakers, but I’ll get around to buying some. I have a penchant for Hershey’s chocolate, which doesn’t help with my weight. I like the miniatures best and Mr Goodbar’s my favourite - I have this idea that the protein in the peanuts helps me think while I’m working, and miniatures are smaller so fewer calories, right?  I keep telling myself that until I go for another one and find the packet empty.  Note to self: buy sneakers tomorrow.
